FLAT
FLAT is a horror short film that was produced for CAS 415: The Rhetoric of American Horror Films taught by Dr. Michele Ramsey at Penn State Berks. By using cinematic conventions, our group embarked on a project that attempted to reflect and conceptualize the fears associated with the ongoing pandemic as it is currently happening.
Inspired by science-fiction and psychological horror, FLAT addresses the global climate about the current hysteria through analysis of digital mediums. It asks us to face what might happen if that exclusive link to human communication is disrupted, and how the escalation of fear about infection is emphasized in an isolated space. This lifestyle of containment, while being subjected to the bombardment of daily news about the alarming spread of the virus, easily promotes the overwhelming and eerie nature of the film.
